FESET Webinar 2020 – ‘Pedagogies of Possibilities’
Transformative Implications of COVID-19 for European Social Education and Pedagogy
Join us on Friday 13th November 2020, for our first FESET webinar exploring the challenges and solutions that the Covid-19 pandemic has created for social education in Europe.
This webinar will contribute to the identification of possible core and critical pedagogies for transformative higher education post Covid-19 in Europe with a focus on social education. We will embrace presentations from different European countries with opportunities to share and exchange practice and ideas.
Since early Spring 2020, educators in professional social education and pedagogy programmes have been challenged to utilize emergency pedagogical approaches to ensure that students are adequately prepared with knowledge, values, and skills for professional practice. COVID-19 is a ‘black swan’ event for higher education across the globe and will have long lasting implications for the higher education community across the globe. Additionally, a specific discussion on practice placements will take place as many questions remain, including the role of social education and pedagogy in responding to this crisis, what role will higher education institutions play in the recovery, coupled with the ‘digital divide’ have the dynamics of assessment changed forever and finally the legacy of social distancing.
